Abolish AI

An image of an old PC with a spray painted "dead" face on the screen. The image is the color of the classic Blue Screen of Death. The text below reads: "AI is... immoral / AI is.... anti-environmental / AI is... making us dumber / Abolish AI" and "Take the No AI December Pledge! abolish-ai.com"

AI is… immoral
AI is… an environmental disaster
AI is… making us dumber

Abolish AI!

How can you get involved? Take the No AI December pledge!

No AI December (https://noaidecember.com/) is the idea of Sandro Rybarik and James S. Bedford, and was designed as a sort of one month de-tox from AI a-la “No Nut November” or “No Shave September”. Rybarik and Bedford are both heavy AI users who seem to view “No AI December” as a break from largely positive experiences with AI.

I’d like to take “No AI December” instead as a preview of a better world without AI – without the massive environmental cost in water and fossil-fuel powered electricity; without the moral and ethical concerns around stealing from creators; without the brain numbing consequences of reliance on Large Language Models.

Just because No AI December didn’t begin as an abolitionist slogan doesn’t mean that it can’t be repurposed as one.
